What do I wear for my session?
For Therapeutic Assessment and Bodywork, you may wear yoga pants, loose fitting sweats and T-shirt, pair of shorts or running shorts and a tank top or sports bra. Whatever you are comfortable in and allows some massage work and freedom of movement. This allows me to assess with MMT, utilize stretching and movement techniques, as well as postural evaluation during the session. Because you will be asked to get on and off the table to move and integrate corrections, being in comfortable clothing is beneficial. Jeans or heavy fabrics are not recommended as they can restrict movement and the ability to work in those areas.
For a Relaxation session, you will be covered with at least a sheet, as well as a blanket for your comfort (THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE). The table is heated (adjustable) and comfortable. You will be asked to undress to your level of comfort for your session. You will be draped with a sheet at ALL times other than the area being massaged.
What will my first Evaluation & Bodywork session be like?
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for your first appointment, to fill out a health history form, if you were unable to do so beforehand. Any current health issues will be discussed, as well as the many factors affecting the way your body is feeling. There may be additional questions asked and a treatment plan and goals for the session will be developed accordingly. Postural and movement assessments will be done of certain movements or areas of discomfort. Breathing patterns will be assessed, as well as manual muscle testing, to reveal any compensation patterns and problematic tissues. Massage techniques as well as stretching and neuromuscular work will be done in order to restore balance. Self care will be recommended for furthering your healing and movement improvement.
What happens if I can't make my scheduled appointment?
If you are running late for an appointment, please call or text. If you are late for an appointment, please note that depending on time constraints, your therapist may not have the time to provide the full time allotted for your session. The session must still be paid in full. If time permits, your therapist will work for as much of the session time as possible.
Please note that there is a 24 hour cancellation policy. We have set aside a specific time for your massage session, please be respectful of that commitment. It is hard to fill appointment times at the last minute, so please be considerate of our time, and kindly give 24 hour notice. If there is a chance you are sick or in cases of emergency, the fee will be waived. If notice is given with less than 24 hours a $50 fee will apply. If notice is not given or you are a no-show, you will be responsible for paying the full session fee. If the appointment was made with a gift certificate as payment, the gift certificate will be forfeited. Thank you!
