Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic massage can be used to promote general well-being and increase self-awareness bringing one in touch with what's going on with his or her own body. Massage can also enhance the body's systems such as the circulatory and immune systems to benefit blood pressure, circulation, muscle tone, digestion, and skin tone.

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body. This techique is meant to assess the tissues and to help warm them up and prepare them for deeper work.

This type of massage uses lubricant such as lotions, creams or oils to give the therapist the ability to glide over the skin. Swedish massage is a very comforting treatment and brings the body into full relaxation as well as aiding the body on a cellular level to perform its most intricate, life sustaining processes.

The benefits are numerous and include:

  • Promoting relaxation and reducing stress and tension

  • Improving the circulatory and lymphatic systems

  • Helping to free up restricted soft tissue of tendons, ligaments, muscles and lubricating joints

  •

    Sports Massage

Sports massage is used to enhance the performance and health of the client, catering slightly more to athletes. Treatments are geared to be sport specific and to help individuals to reach their goals physically and mentally.

Different sports and events require specific uses of any given muscle group. By helping to target those necessary muscle groups and actions used, the therapist can work in such a way as to help prepare the client’s muscles for their activities and reduce the risk of injury.

    Sports massage has many benefits:

  • Increases blood circulation and lymph flow
  • Reduces muscle tension, improves flexibility, and relieves pain

  • Increases endurance and performance while decreasing the chances of injury

  • Aids in the reduction of post event recovery time

    Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage focuses on treating the deep layers of muscles in the body. Deep tissue massage can sometimes be slightly uncomfortable to the client. Treatment sessions require good communication between the Massage Therapist and the client to work within the comfort level of the client to address the issues in the tissues.

Sessions should not be extremely painful or uncomfortable as too much pressure or discomfort can send the body into a “fight or flight” response, causing the muscles to tense up and counteract the intentions of the treatment.

Benefits of deep tissue massage are:

  • Helps to break the pain-spasm-pain cycle

  • Assists to break up chronic pain holding patterns

  • Helps to relieve and aid in the breakdown of “stuck” tissue, or adhesions

  • Brings pliability and flexibility back to the muscles and joint
  • s
  • Increases Range of Motion

  • Decreases pain

  • Chair

Chair Massage is a way to bring massage to events, businesses or corporate offices. A folding massage chair is used for the client to sit on and the massage session usually lasts anywhere from 5 to sometimes 30 minutes.

In an office setting, employees will usually set up an appointment on a sign up sheet that is broken down into appointments for that day. It only takes a few minutes out of their day and has some wonderful benefits.

It is a great way for employers to enhance the performance of their employees. People have said they feel “refreshed and invigorated” after a 15 minute chair massage. They feel relaxed and stress free, able to get back to work with an uncluttered mind.

Chair massage is also a great way to help bring people into their bodies and notice when they are feeling physically uncomfortable. It can be very beneficial in addressing Repetitive Strain Disorders such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tennis Elbow, Tendonitis, and help to relieve tension headaches.

There have also been studies that have shown people who receive massage on the job, are less likely to go home sick, have fewer stress related conditions, and take fewer sick days. Overall, it is a benefit to everyone involved.
