Biography of Karyn Hynd

Karyn uses a variety of techniques for much of her work. Orthopedic Assessment, Deep Tissue techniques, Myofascial Sports Massage, Trigger Point, Swedish and Reiki. She has completed over 150 hours of continuing education classes in Orthopedic Massage with James Waslaski and Whitney Lowe, as well as numerous hours in Neuromuscular therapy, CORE Sport Bodywork, hot stone and prenatal massage.  Whether you are looking for relaxation and stress reduction or specific therapeutic work for Frozen Shoulder, Rotator Cuff injuries, Repetitive Strain Disorders such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tendonosis, or Headache relief, Karyn’s sessions are very beneficial.

Karyn is also offering On-site Seated Corporate Massage to local businesses.  She is now working in Haverhill, MA, combining efforts  with YOUR MT Muscular Therapy, in the heart of the Merrimack Valley.  She also travels to different barns in Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire.

She is an insured member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and is Nationally Certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB). She is always taking new classes to keep up with current standards and expand her knowledge in order to maximize her performance as a massage therapist and help her clients whether they are human or equine.

Karyn has been an avid horse lover since childhood. She grew up riding locally in the Dover, MA area.   While attending college at The University of Findlay, Karyn became the owner of her first horse. While majoring in and studying Equine Studies-Western, one of her assigned school project horses became her major focus, and eventually became her own.

After graduating with a B.A. in Equine Studies/Communications, Karyn became the farm manager of a cutting horse farm in North Carolina. Before leaving New England for NC, she took a 10 week, intensive Equine Trigger Point Myotherapy course from Equi-Myo located in Granby, CT. This course was a 250 hour course designed to cover anatomy and physiology of the horse as well as safe practices in handling, evaluating and massaging them. She became a Certified Equine Trigger Point Myotherapist and brought these skills with her to North Carolina. After returning to Massachusetts, Karyn managed a commercial riding/showing facility on the North Shore for several years while still practicing massage and working with horses.

Soon it became apparent that horses and riders were often BOTH in need of massage therapy, and one was tough to “fix” without helping the other. Interested in expanding her knowledge and wanting to be able to address issues in both horses and their riders, she decided to study Human Massage Therapy at the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy in Worcester, MA. There she gained a whole new understanding and perspective as how to help and treat people with Therapeutic Massage techniques to help restore balance and wellness to their lives as well as prevent injuries and aid in recovery.

"I am an avid student and believe that every client has something to teach me, whether equine or human.  I am dedicated to always learning through continuing education classes as well as in my office everyday!"
